The company operates digital wallet and payment services, including remittances, card transactions, airtime top-ups, and payroll flows. Maintaining customer trust, regulatory license adherence, and financial resilience is critical. The business currently operates in 3 countries (Qatar, Oman and Maldives) and it is building in 3 additional countries (Iraq, Tunisia, Kuwait).
The CFO provides end-to-end leadership across financial reporting, FP&A, financial operations, regulatory reporting, and audit, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and scalability in a fast-paced fintech environment. The business is run with a highly centralised operating model, and high reusability of centrally defined process, systems and procedures. Purpose
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for the overall financial stewardship of the Ooredoo Fintech. The role ensures robust financial governance, regulatory compliance, sustainable growth, and value creation while supporting the company’s expansion, product innovation, and operational scale.
The CFO will oversee the financial strategy, reporting, financial operations, regulatory engagement, and risk management, ensuring strong controls over customer funds, settlements, and financial data. The CFO acts as a trusted advisor to the CEO, Board, and regulators and supports evidence‑based decision‑making through high‑quality financial reporting, forecasting, and analysis.
Role Accountabilities
Financial Strategy:
Define and execute the company’s financial strategy aligned with business objectives, growth plans, and regulatory requirements.
Act as a strategic partner to the CEO and executive leadership, providing financial insights to support decision-making, product expansion, and market entry.
Lead long-term financial planning, capital allocation, and investment prioritization
Financial Governance & Reporting:
Oversee IFRS-compliant financial reporting, including management accounts, board reporting, and statutory financial statements.
Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closes.
Maintain governance frameworks policies and audit readiness.
Regulatory & Compliance:
Serve as the primary finance liaison with regulators (e.g., Central Bank / QCB), auditors, and external stakeholders.
Ensure full compliance with regulatory reporting, licence conditions, safeguarding of customer funds, and PSP/fintech regulations.
Oversee finance-related AML/FCC controls in collaboration with Risk and Compliance teams.
Finance Operations:
Provide executive oversight of financial operations, including reconciliations, settlement funding, escrow accounts, and partner settlements.
Manage liquidity planning, cash forecasting, settlements, escrow accounts and foreign exchange exposure management.
Maintain robust controls over customer funds, settlement SLAs, and fund segregation.
FP&A, Performance & Value Creation:
Lead budgeting, forecasting, and performance management processes.
Translate complex transaction and financial data into clear insights, KPIs, and dashboards for senior management and the Board.
Monitor unit economics, product profitability, and cost efficiency to support sustainable growth.
Systems, Automation & Transformation:
Champion financial systems modernization, automation, and data analytics to improve accuracy, scalability, and efficiency.
Partner with Technology and Product teams to enhance reporting, reconciliation tools, and financial architecture.
Team Leadership & Development:
Build, lead, and retain a high-performing finance leadership team across reporting, operations, and FP&A.
Develop succession planning and capability-building within the finance function.
Manage relationships with banks, payment partners, auditors, investors, and group stakeholders
Systems, Automation & Transformation
Champion financial systems modernization, automation, and data analytics to improve accuracy, scalability, and efficiency.
Partner with Technology and Product teams to enhance reporting, reconciliation and financial architecture.
Experience Required
15+ years qualified experience.
Proven track record in building and leading finance functions from scratch
Proven experience engaging with regulators, central banks, auditors, and boards.
Strong end-to-end knowledge of IFRS reporting, financial operations and FP&A.
Experience of working in a high growth environment.
Currently in a senior finance leadership role, such as Head of Finance or Finance Director, with demonstrated experience in managing finance teams.
Qualifications Required
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related field.
MBA or advanced finance qualification is an advantage.
Professional Qualification (ACA, ACCA, CPA or CIMA
Strong proficiency in financial management tools and software (ERP Systems, financial modelling)
