Role Summary & Duties and Responsibilities

RAN Expert

The 4G RAN expert is responsible for sites design, cell-design-data preparation, network tuning, and optimization.

• 4G Radio access network analysis, tuning, and optimization.

• Configuring the strategy parameters for locating and reselection.

• Dimensioning the 4G Radio Access Network (number of ENodeBs, RB, RE, RS power ...) according to the coverage, capacity and quality requirements.

• Analyzing drive test log-files and recommending network tuning changes.

• Performing network analysis and troubleshooting.

• Recommending and activating radio features to maximize the 4G network capacity and performance.

• Planning the ENodeBs in LTE RF planning tool, defining their related parameters: site coordinates, antenna type, antenna height, antenna tilt, antenna azimuth, power settings, PCI, propagation model parameters.

• Calculating the 4G RF link budget and generating propagation models for the different area types.

• Generating coverage and quality predictions of the 4G radio plan.

• Neighbor relations planning including EUTRAN, IRAT & External ones.

• Preparing the site design data for the site integration and applying the dump revision.

• Preparing the 4G cluster acceptance process and requirements.

• Analyzing the 4G sites performance after integration through drive test and OSS measurements, PIM analysis, detecting inconsistencies and RF problems and recommending changes to fix them.

• Auditing the radio network parameters and recommending parameter changes.

• Creating and using statistical reports for monitoring and troubleshooting the LTE radio access network.

• Configuring and using the ENM LTE Radio Network Optimization tools for analyzing the network performance.

• Coordinating and validating the technical work with a group of RF engineers and transferring operational knowledge to the local RNO team.

• Preparing reports and presentations about the 4G radio network optimization activities and performance.

• External interference analysis, building a comprehensive process to follow up the affected cells.

Experience & Qualifications

• B.Sc. degree in Electrical/Telecommunication engineering or equivalent.

• (8+) years of experience in RAN planning and optimization projects with operators and/or vendors.

• Proven expertise in 4G RAN planning is required.

• Proven expertise in translating business requirements into operating technologies.

• Deep knowledge and practice of Ericsson’s 4G RAN dimensioning, planning and optimization processes.

• Full knowledge of Ericsson’s RAN portfolio.

• Experience in RAN modernization and multi-technology Ericsson RAN equipment.

• Proven expertise in LTE initial tuning and launching 4G RANs.

• Excellent knowledge of OSS/ENM Optimization tools.

• Excellent working experience with radio planning, driving test, and post-processing tools.

• Practical experience of working with Ericsson’s 4G radio counters and statistics.

• Excellent knowledge of telecom vendors, technologies, and trends.

• Initial tuning experience for 4G Network is a must.

• Multi-Band LTE experience.

• 4G Core network experience is a Plus

Work Arrangements

• On-site (for candidates based in Palestine)

• Remote work option available for candidates residing outside Palestine.
