The Role

Responsible for managing the cash management activities, the daily channel sales and collection reporting. Collections control for all channel (direct stores, franchisees, online & others) and take care of related bank deposits and reconciliation.

Responsible for the provision of accurate and timely revenue and roaming related accounts and analytical reports. Ensure the accuracy, correctness and compliance to established practices of all accounting transactions within the area of authority.

Key Accountabilities
  • Plan, prioritise, supervise and control the accounting operations of the cash function, ensuring that financial and accounting information is accurate, produced on time and to agreed quality standards.

  • Oversee the cash management process in the area responsible and ensuring close coordination with banks for the production of statements and reconciliation responsibilities.

  • Ensure that all bank reconciliations are done on time and all old reconciliation items are cleared according to Ooredoo policy.

  • Ensure that all refunds are done on time according to Ooredoo policy.

  • Responsible for checking all deposit transactions on a daily basis (retail, franchise, Head office, Kiosk, web portal etc.) and either take action or report issues to the Head of Accounts.

  • Cooperate fully with external auditors to ensure they have full access and support throughout the assessment process to minimise the likelihood of disruption or unnecessary assessment queries.

  • Activities are planned and carried out within the scope of well-defined policies and procedures and in strict accordance with International Accounting Standards Board requirements.

  • Ensuring the collections from all the Channels (retail, dealers, franchisee, online etc.) is deposited in banks on a timely basis and highlights the issues (if any) to the Head of Accounts.

  • Responding to the Internal Audit Reports and completion of open audit observations on a timely basis.

  • Monitor the compliance on the Petty Cash policies and procedures.

  • Supervision the periodical cash count with the cash custodians

  • Ensure the preparation of daily and monthly cash forecast for review and approval by Head of Accounts.

  • Optimize the fund utilization with minimum external borrowings.

  • Recommend the automation of collection channels.

  • Monitor the compliance with the loan covenants on a monthly basis and preparing the necessary compliance documents as required by the banks.

  • Coordination with Group and Banks in managing the daily operational activities.

  • Coordinate with banks and Group for renewal of facilities.

  • Oversee the collation, processing of data and the production of reports within the scope.

  • Ensure the timely reconciliations and follow up with the BI, Business Support and Control System (BSCS), Retail Activation System (RAS) versus General Ledger (GL) reconciliation and billing values.

  • Review data history with trend analysis.

  • Ensure necessary arrangements for new revenue stream / product for GL mapping accounting process.

  • Resolution of any issues with BI, Technology and other departments.

  • Review revenue sharing agreement with vendors. Do the necessary documents filing and appropriate reconciliation.

  • Review all the monthly journal entries related to revenue and roaming accounting are recorded which are in compliance with IFRS.

  • Lead the investigation into discrepancies or shortages of information / data and either take action or report issues to the Head of Accounts.

  • Advise Head of Accounts of any significant deviation from established process or any procedural default to take appropriate action on time.

  • Provide analysis and summaries of information to auditors with appropriate analysis, trend analysis and reasons as directed ensuring key issues brought to the attention of Head of Accounts.

  • Proactively participate in the systems implementation and ensure compliance to the same by the end user.

  • Maintain a comprehensive and effective system of financial controls and recording mechanisms, making full use of the Ooredoo Telecom’s information technology capabilities.

  • Activities are planned and carried out within the scope of well defined policies and procedures and in strict accordance with Ooredoo customer service policies.

  • Review the monthly interconnect and roaming accounting, settlements, reconciliation of AR module with GL including the bank reconciliations.

  • Review the monthly provision for doubtful debts and recommend for any deviations

  • Review the UAT testing results and provide the necessary approvals

  • Ensure the settlements with interconnect operators are closed on a timely basis

  • Ensure that a comprehensive and effective system of financial reporting, recording and control is maintained.

  • Prepare cash management reports on collections for Head of Accounts review.

  • Identify and undertake investigations into discrepancies or shortages of information / data and either take action or report issues to the Manager. Identify discrepancies and omissions in standard reports/financial data and ensure they are corrected or referred to the Head of Accounts.

  • Preparation of Monthly Treasury Report and circulation to Ooredoo Group

  • Supervise the work of direct reports to ensure they meet their objectives, are kept motivated and perform in accordance with their delegated duties.

  • Undertake regular on the job training to ensure that direct reports have the necessary skills to undertake new or existing responsibilities.

  • Delegate responsibility to direct reports, in accordance with their role and ability, to ensure they are developed and maximise their potential.

  • Proactively take responsibility for self improvement by staying well-informed of developments, knowledge and innovations in relevant field of expertise.

  • Participate in the technology projects in upgrading the collection systems.

  • Other duties as directed by the Head of Accounts or other superiors.

  • Recommend the improvements and cost saving measures

  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls

  • Manage outsourced functions.

Qualifications & Requirements
  • Minimum of CA/ CPA / master's in accounting appropriate registration with a recognized professional institute

  • 6 - 7 years of accounting experience

  • 2+ years managerial/supervisory experience

  • 2+ years relevant experience

  • Good knowledge of MS Office, detailed knowledge of ERP systems, basic understanding of billing systems and flows

  • Excellent command of both written and verbal English, Arabic would be an advantage
