The Purpose

To lead the planning, design, and optimization of telecom transmission and IP networks—spanning technologies such as IP/MPLS, DWDM, SDH, Microwave (PDH/IP), and Optical Fiber. The Senior Engineer plays a pivotal role in ensuring high availability, scalability, and performance of Ooredoo-Kuwait’s transport and IP infrastructure. This position requires deep multi-disciplinary technical expertise to execute complex, high-impact projects that support the company’s strategic technology roadmap and evolving business needs.

Key Accountabilties & Responsiblities
  • Plan, dimension, and engineer network backhaul and backbone using IP/MPLS, DWDM, SDH, and Microwave technologies.

  • Plan Backhaul networking for Ooredoo Kuwait RAN Networks including 5G elements, legacy BSS networks for RAN 2G/3G/LTE and, related Radio technologies, MW transmission, POS (Point Of Sale), B2B and customer Networks to facilitate Traffic Transporting, Monitoring, and any Business requirements.

  • Design and evolve the IP transport network to support Segment Routing over IPv6 (SRv6), enabling simplified, scalable, and programmable routing across the infrastructure.

  • Enable Network Slicing across the transport domain to support differentiated service requirements for eMBB, mMTC, and URLLC use cases.

  • Monitor and forecast capacity and performance across the transport layer; ensure timely upgrades and redundancy planning.

  • Lead IP addressing plans, Layer 2/3 integration for platforms (e.g., PS/CS Core, IT, Billing, VAS), and implementation of secure segmentation across different security zones.

  • Maintain and enhance Internet and public network architecture (BGP, RIPE, GRX/IPX).

  • Ensure alignment with international best practices and telecom-grade reliability (99.999% availability).Lead the end-to-end lifecycle of infrastructure projects, including survey, planning, work order issuance, vendor coordination, and implementation.

  • Prepare and evaluate RFPs; perform detailed vendor assessments and manage contractual compliance.

  • Document High-Level Designs (HLD), Low-Level Designs (LLD), Method of Procedures (MoP), and Acceptance documentsDrive continuous network performance assessment and improvement initiatives.

  • Ensure compliance with internal audits, governance, quality initiatives, and security standards.

  • Maintain accurate documentation, network diagrams, and engineering records.

  • Support CAPEX and OPEX planning; provide input into the 3-Year Business Plan and Annual Operating Plan.

  • Oversee procurement lifecycle from requirement definition to delivery follow-up.

  • Deliver cost-saving initiatives through optimal design and efficient vendor management.Interface with internal departments (Planning, Operations, Implementation, NOC) for coordinated project execution.

  • Provide specialized consultation and leadership in cross-functional technical discussions.

  • Support group-level initiatives and collaborations across OpCosMentor junior engineers, foster knowledge transfer, and promote technical excellence.

  • Remain current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices.

  • Contribute to building a culture of continuous learning and innovation

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electronics, Electrical, or Computer Engineering.

  • Advanced IP certifications (e.g., CCIE) preferred.

Requirements
  • 3-4 years in Telecom transmission/IP planning with project-based engineering experience.

  • Advanced working knowledge of GSM, LTE, 5G networks

  • General Telecom industry knowledge

  • Ability to apply diverse knowledge of engineering principles within broad assignments making independent engineering decisions and using advanced engineering techniques and procedures.

  • Advanced understanding of IP/MPLS, DWDM, SDH, and Microwave systems.

  • Proficient in network architecture, integration planning, and high-availability design.

  • Strong analytical, project management, and communication skills.

  • Fluency in English; Arabic is an advantage.

  • Proficient in MS Office and Engineering Tools.
